NOVEL:

FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL


Introduction:

During this term, in English, we are reading the novel "Four Weddings and a Funeral". We have also watched the film.

Film information:

What year was the film made? The film was made in 1994.
Who's the director? The director is Mike Newell.

The most famous films directed by Mike Newell are:

- Harry Potter and the globet of fire



He have directed many other films, but I think that those films are the best.


Who are the main actors/actresses?names and pictures


1- Charles (Hugh Grant): An unmarried man who has had a lot of girlfriends. He really falls in love when he meets Carrie in a wedding. 
2- Carrie (Andie MacDowell): She's an American woman. First he gets married with Hamish, but they get divorced and at the end she gets married with Charles.
3- Gareth (Simon Callow): He's a Charle's friend and he lives with his boyfriend, Mathew. In the third wedding he dies suddenly of a heart attack.
4- Scarlett (Charlote Coleman): She shares a flat with flat but she isn't his girlfriend. He never finds the true love. 
5- Mathew (John Hannah): He's Gareth's partner and when Gareth dies he recites a poem on his honor.
6- Fiona (Kristin Scott Thomas): Fiona is another friend of Charles who has always been in love with him. At the end she accepts that she will only be a friend of Charles.
7- Henrietta (Anna Chancellor): She is Charles' exgirlfriend and in the last wedding they are going to be married. Charles, but, says that he's in love with another person that isn't Hen. Everyone knows her as "Duckface".
8- Tom (James Fleet): Tom is Fiona's brother. He is always searching for love. 
9- David: Charles's younger brother. He's deaf and thanks to him Charles gets married with Carrie. 


What type of film is it? a comedy? a tragedy?

It's a romantic comedy because it's a funny film and it has got happy scenes. The only sad moment is Gareth's funeral.

The plot:
Write a summary (6 lines max.)
Charles is an English man. In a wedding, he meets Carrie, an American woman and he falls in love with her immediately. They go to the bed and they didn't see again until the second wedding, where Carrie presents Charles her promise. Later, Charles goes to Carrie's wedding. There, Gareth, a friend, have a heart attack and dies. Some months later, Charles gets married desperately with his exgirlfriend, Hen. Carrie goes to the wedding and tells him that she has divorced from her husband. When Charles is going to be married, David, his brother, says him that he can't get married if he loves Carrie. Charles, at the last moment, says that he not want to get married with Hen and he gets married definitely with Carrie.

What's your favorite scene/moment? Why?
My favorite scene is when the inexperienced priest have to marry Bernard and Lydia, because it's very funny and I think Rowan Atkinson is a good actor.

Who's your favorite character? Why?

My favorite character is Charles, because Hugh Grant is one of my favourite actors and he makes the film more funny.

Charles: So, John, how's that lovely girlfriend of yours?
John: She's not my girlfriend now.
Charles: Oh dear - well, don't be sad! I heard that she was still seeing old Toby de Lisle! She needed two men, you know!
John: She's now my wife...
Charles: Excellent, excellent! May I congratulate you? And is there the sound of little feet yet? You know - babies, and all that? No? Oh well, plenty of time for that, isn't there?

Conclusion. Personal opinion

In general, I like this film. The actors and the argument are good. There are a lot of funny scenes. In conclusion, "Four weddings and a funeral" is a great film.
