A description of a building

Torre Agbar:
La Torre Agbar is situated in Barcelona, between the Diagonal avenue and Badajoz street. It was designed by the architect Jean Nouvel and it was inaugurated on the 16th September of 2005.
The tower is made of concrete and is covered with a very thin sheet of glass. From the outside the tower is like a missile. Inside, it has got a lot of offices of important companies. The tower is illuminated using LETS.
I've never visited the tower, but I've seen it a lot of times. On 2006, La Torre Agbar was the stage of the end of the year in Catalunya.

WRITING:

My easter holiday

My easter holiday was great. On monday, I went with my friends to "Espai Gironès" and we went to the cinema. It was fantastic. On tuesday and wednesday I stay home and the other days I went to Alp, a village near La Molina, where I've got a house, There I went to sky every day and I met with some friends. The last day I went with my cousins to celebrate "La mona".
In my opinion, I like easter holiday, but I think there aren't many days to relax.

CRAZY:

What is it?!
This bizarre creature is a "piglet squid"! He looks very happy, but his smile is permanent: it's cause by pigmentation. He is about the size of an orange and lives 100 metres under the sea.

Celebrity teeth
Did you know you can now have a tattoo on your teeth! A dentist in the USA is offering tattoos of celebrities like David Beckham and Amy Winehouse. They cost 100 dollars (about 80 euros). But don't worry, the tattoos are not permanent. They can be removed in five minutes by a dentist. Do you want one?!

Giving advice

Dear Pol
One of my friends has started acting quite strangely. She's always looking for money and she sometimes misses school. She's going out with a guy, Steve, who I don't know very well. Steve doesn't speak to me when the three of us are together and he looks at me very angrily.
I don't really know what's happening. What's your advice?
Clare

Dear Clare
You have got a serious problem. If I were you, I wouldn't be too worried about your problem but if this person is your friend you must help her.
Obviously, you should talk to her as immediately as possible to solve the problem together. First you must talk to Steve and tell him that you're worried about your friend. I think that Steve is a problem, so it's convenient that your friend try to take a distance from him and find new friends.
Well, this is my advice. I hope you can solve you're problem with your friend.
Good look!

ORAL PRESENTATION:

1- Introduction:

In this project I'm talking about my favorite sport, basketball. I'm going to tell you something about this amazing sport and I'm going to talk about one of my favourite players: Allen Iverson.

2- A profile of the sport:

Basketball has existed since 1891 and it was created by James Naismith, a P.E teacher in Canada. It started in America and now there are basketball clubs everywhere. It's the most popular sport in the United States.
The most important basketball competition is the NBA (National Basketball Association), which started in 1946. It's considered the best basketball league in the world. Women have competed in another league (WNBA) since 1996. There are many other leagues like ACB in Spain and Lega Basket Serie A in Italy. The most important international competitions are FIBA and Eurobasket.

3- Biography of a famous player:

Allen Iverson was born on 7th June 1975. He grew up in Virginia, USA. He started to play basketball on the institute and after that he went to the university. In 1996 he was selected on the first position of the Draft by Philadelphia Sixers. In his first year on the NBA he won a trophy for the rookie of the year. Actually he plays in Detroit Pistons.
After that he won a lot of trophys and he held a lot of records. For exampe he's the 3th maximum scorer of the history of the NBA and he has been 9 times in the AllStar.

4- Interview a champion:

This month in our We are the champions section we interview Allen Iverson, a famous NBA player and a basketball star.

Welcome Allen. When did you start to play basketball?
Well, I stared to play basketball in the institute, where we won the championship and after that I went to the university where I continue playing basketball. In the university I learn a lot about basketball.

How often do you practise basketball?
My team and I go to coach four or five times a week because we have two or three matches every week. Our trainer, Michael Curry, tell us the strategy to win our rival.

Who is the best player you've ever played against?
We play every year with Boston Celtics. They have players like Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, so they're a difficult team to win. But I think that we will win if we work very hard.

What is the furthest distance you've ever travelled to play in a basketball match?
Two years ago we travelled to Barcelona to play a friendly match with Regal Barcelona. They are a good team and I think that they have good players.

If you're interested in finding out more about the NBA or more basketball stars, check out the NBA website. Next week in We are the champions we will be talking to a tennis star, Rafa Nadal.

5- Buying tickets by phone for a competition:

Man: Hello, Ticket Connect. How can I help you?
Pol: Oh, hi. I'm phoning about tickets for the NBA match between Detroit Pistons and Lakers.
Man: Yes, can you tell me the date and place?
Pol: Yes, the match is on the 9th of March and it's in Detroit.
Man: OK, let me check. Yes, we've got tickets for that.
Pol: Perfect, how much are they?
Man: How many tickets do you want?
Pol: Two tickets, please.
Man: OK, they're all 150 pounds. Oh, I'll need your name, adress, a phone number and a credit card number please.
Pol: OK, my name is...

6- Describing an event:

Pol: Have you ever been to the All Star, Michael?
Michael: No, what's that all about?
Pol: Well, it's a basketball match between the two conferences of the NBA: west and east. There are the best basketball payers of the NBA. They do it every year.
Michael: So they do a basketball match. What else happens?
Pol: Well, before this match there's a dunk competition and a score competition. There's also a match between rookies and sophomores. Do you fancy going?
Michael: When it's on?
Pol: It's on this Saturday and Sunday at 8'00 o'clock. Do you fancy going?
Michael: OK, that sounds good. Where's the best place to watch it?
Pol: In front of the couch. Let's meet at my house at 5'00 PM. Bye.

7- Ask for permission to go to the event:

Pol: Dad, can I go to the All Star. Michael is also going to be there.
Dad: Well, OK. When is it?
Pol: It's on this Saturday. After the All Star can I go to Michael's house.
Dad: No, you can't.
Pol: Why not?
Dad: Because the next week you've got a Math's exam and you've to study a lot.
Pol: Ok, and one more thing. Can you give me some money?
Dad: Well, I'll lend you 60 pounds. But I'll only lend you the money if you promise to tidy your bedroom. Here, you are.
Pol: Thank you, dad.

8- My opinion:

Basketball is my favourite sport. I started to practise it when I was 9 years old with C.B Banyoles but now I don't play basketball because I want to have more free time.

A survivor's story
Last month I was going to New York with my father on his car. One day we were visiting a museum when the weather became windy. There were a lot of people in the museum and we were all relaxed. Suddenly, I saw a big tornado. I didn't know what to do. When the tornado hit the museum a lot of things began to break. The next moment there was a lot of noise. People were crying and mobile phones didn't work. Afterwards I was OK, but I was very frightened. It was a terrible experience, and when we arrived home the next day I felt lucky to be alive.
